Living in a co-living space comes with many perks—affordability, a sense of community, and shared responsibilities. But it also means being mindful of how your actions affect others. Here are a few key behaviors that help maintain a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for everyone:
1. Lock Up Responsibly
Always lock the main door behind you, even if you’re just stepping out for a moment. It helps keep everyone and their belongings safe.
2. Be Fire-Smart
Avoid using candles or incense unattended. Never leave cooking food on the stove while distracted. Make sure to unplug heat-producing appliances when not in use.
3. Keep Shared Areas Tidy
Clean up after yourself in kitchens, bathrooms, and lounges. A clean space is not just pleasant—it’s safer and more hygienic for everyone.
4. Mind Noise Levels
Use headphones, keep music and conversations at a reasonable volume, and avoid loud activities during rest hours. Being noise-aware is a big part of respectful co-living.
5. Communicate Clearly
If something’s bothering you, or if there’s something others should know (like a broken appliance or a maintenance issue), speak up politely or use the group chat to keep everyone informed.
6. Respect Personal Belongings
Don’t borrow items without asking, and always return things in good condition. Treat others’ spaces and stuff the way you’d want yours to be treated.
7. Practice Bathroom Courtesy
Limit your time during busy hours and leave it clean for the next person. A little consideration goes a long way.
Creating a peaceful co-living home isn’t hard—it just takes a bit of effort and mutual respect. When everyone follows these small habits, it leads to a better experience for the whole house.
